This is not a report (wish it were), it is a question for Jeff. I caught up on your web site and see catches I would expect from you, but also included are mahi. How far out do you have to go and get into them? I don't mean the 40#'ers, looks like you are hitting the nice table eatin size.... Looks like if I hear the answer I am hoping for there may still be hope for me and my boat, once I am down there, learn the inlet and hit good sea and wind days.

Does anybody have any experience with the Wildlife ramp at Shell Rock landing?

This past week I put in at the ramp on 24...small parking area (and very steep at low tide).

Is the Shell Rock landing any better or user friendly?

Thanks in advance for any info!

Fishing Report - May 3rd, 2008

That sounds like a great trip! Landing 5+lb blues is fun fishing. Yeah we have a small place off of Hwy 24 going back behind the Swansboro library down on the White Oak. We will fish there but we also take the boat to the inlets and fish. We drove up to Beaufort and put in there a Taylor's Creek. We drove out to the lighthouse and had some good luck there last summer. Beautiful spot! Hopefully we'll get in to those blues and reds next trip down.

Where to weigh your boat, there is a landfill off HWY 24, Hibbs road I think, but it seems like it’s about half way between HWY 58 and MHC if your going towards MHC the road is on the left.

Check this site for times of operation and phone numbers.

I would just go there and pull up on the scale, if they are not to busy you should be able to get the weigh master to weigh your truck, trailer and boat, be sure to get the

Yes, the west coast is certainly a hot spot. I lived in SE Fla. for 9 years when younger, spent many nights fishing off local bridges for those fine eating specimens. About the best tasting, and smartest fish I think I have ever targeted. But the trout were fine eating also, as they always are on the island... Thanks Paul, good catching to you also, I watch your posts and you and the Ms's taint no slouches....
